Eco-Warriors

At St Michael’s, we encourage all children to develop an awareness of environmental topics in the classroom that can impact our world.

We do this for all children through quality Geography, PSHE and Science lessons. We also provide children with an opportunity to take leadership of environment issues in our school and we aim to take this into the local community too.

The incorporation of sustainability allows our Eco-Warriors to embrace a leadership role in school.

We have elected an Eco-Warriors Committee, two children per class from Years 1 to 6, who work with Mrs Ranger and Miss Chatfield and meet at least every half term.

Over the academic year, we aim to work on the following issues in our school:

  • Transport to school
  • Water
  • Waste
  • Litter
  • Recycling
  • Healthy Living
  • Looking after our school grounds and community grounds
  • Biodiversity

We encourage our Eco-Warriors to take active leadership in the things they want to change in our school and enjoy doing this at the same time.

Litter Picking (and a picnic!)

In the Summer term, the Eco-Warriors went litter picking around our local area and enjoyed a lovely picnic!
