Believe, Achieve, Succeed

Year 2

Welcome to Year 2.

The Year 2 team this year consists of Miss King, Miss Rashbrook, Miss Depper and Mrs Sweeney. We are also lucky to have Miss Robinson and Miss Thompson who help support us in the classrooms. Please see our latest year group newsletter here.

Our aim for this year is for the children to be happy, have fun and most importantly build on their knowledge and skills that they learnt in Year 1 and help to fill gaps within their knowledge.

We want the children to feel safe and secure when they come to school which will boost their confidence and see them taking risks in lessons, attempting challenges and persevering when they don’t get it right the first time. We want to build up their resilience in Year 2 and ensure children don’t give up at the first hurdle. We want all children to achieve and succeed on their Year 2 journey!

This year we will be visiting lots of new topics which we hope the children will enjoy! We will link learning and skills from other subjects into our topic, so the children gain a greater in-depth understanding. We will start each topic with a ‘Wow’ day to entice and engage the children and make them curious about each topic.

In Year 2, we will continue to send home a reading record, the children will also be able to access their eBook on the Collins eBook website using their log in. They will also be receiving spellings weekly. It is important that you hear your child read at home and to help them practise their spellings so that they become more confident with their reading and writing. We will be making half termly trips to Bartley Green Library and the children will be able to bring home a library book. It is important for children to read different books at home to promote a love of reading.

We would just like finish by saying thank you so much for all your continued support and we hope the children have a happy and successful year!

We have so much fun in Year 2!
